About

the fairy farmer

Hello there, Im Monique. Thank you for visiting and welcome to my website The Fairy Farmer.

Currently living in an Amish farmhouse in the north country and building a farm enterprise with partner Kyle. Together we steward 9 acres with small herd of goats, sheep, meat rabbits and chickens, and three livestock dogs as guardians.
At eighteen I left home and took a solo trip to India for a few months. A fire began to roar inside and fuel the desire toward accomplishing personal dreams and visions of travel, research, documentation, personal development and educational and creative endeavors.
Overtime, traveling and being in the inbetween led to working odd jobs on family farms all over the world. This is how the curiosity and interest was sparked to learn about alternative ways to practice self-reliance, holistic land management/animal husbandry and natural folk methods of agriculture and lifestyle.

Throughout this blog, my goal is to explore through a holistic lens:
How animal husbandry particularly the relationship between herbivores and humankind plays a part in our biological and cultural development.

My personal thesis in short focuses on how the integration of animal husbandry throughout the history of humankind has been a key to a more sustainable and abundant development of our species and ecosystem. This personal thesis is woven throughout the theme of this blog and inspires my creative endeavors and life goals.
It is exciting to challenge the petrol chemical approach to life and discover how to nourish the relationship between humans, our health, ecosystem and livestock through holistic folk methods of healing, stewardship and lifestyle.
